Charles Boyer was so sexy it was ridiculous. Tall, dark, and handsome with that nice square jaw too. Don't even get me started on his voice. He easily had the sexiest accent I've ever heard in my life. I get tingles just hearing him talk in his movies. I love History is Made at Night, Love Affair, Back Street, Hold Back the Dawn, Gaslight, Arc of Triumph, and A Woman's Vengeance. Not to mention his I Love Lucy appearance.

While clearing out my mothers things after she died I came across several press cuttings of her favourite film star, Charle Boyer. Some are dated as early as the 1940s. If anyone would like them I would be happy to pass them on.
Charles Boyer-handsome, debonair and timeless

Thank you albatros1 for your excellent and informative review of Charles Boyer. What a romantic, onscreen and off. A sad but sweet story of a man I've long admired onscreen. When I was a little girl, my parents got me a big black rabbit that followed me everywhere I went. They said he loved me dearly, and they nicknamed him "Charles Boyer", for his somewhat romantic? obsession with me. I misunderstood the nickname, thought they said "Charles Boiled-egg", and that's what I called my rabbit. Years later, I had to see what the fuss was about--this Charles Boyer, and I must say, the rabbit never lived up to his namesake!
My favorite actor for 50 years! His work was always superb. His work deserves greater recognition and preservation. Many of his early and mid-career works are really hard to find and many never on TV: Constant Nymph, Appointment for Love, Womans Vengeance, Thirteenth Letter, Together Again, and many others.. Maybe revivals and hommages in NYC and Los Angeles last year will ignite some further interest.

I have been loving his work for years, but until recently I have not truly given him justice. Charles Boyer is pushing Cary Grant out of the top spot for him. I am just loving his work. I saw Algiers for the first time last year and lovvvvved it! I have seen 'All This, and Heaven Too', but this time it was better. Could you please bring it on again. People always talk about Cary Grant in 'An Affair to Remember' but they need to see Charles Boyer in the original 'Lover Affair', the same with 'Back Street'. It amazes me how much the actor makes a difference in the same movie role. Charles Boyer has a charm that sets him apart. I would truly love to see 'All this and Heaven too' again.
I fell in love with Charles Boyer watching him in 'All This, and Heaven Too' for the first time today. I can't help thinking the world is sorrier for his passing nearly 30 years ago. I know I am. If you ever watch this movie, just watch his face as the emotions move subtly across his face. You can almost believe that he actually loves Bette Davis instead of just acting in a movie. What acting abilities! He should be the one called 'The King of the Screen' instead of Clark Gable.
My favorite movies with him are, Back Street and Hold Back the Dawn. I wish that they would be shown in TMC. These are movies that will never be dated because their themes could apply in our present time. I'm a romantic so these movies were excellent. Men should see them just to learn certain secrets about women in general.
