My hero, my love Sterling
Many identify with Sterling with his Disney voice acting. Many Children would know him as "Pooh." But many people underestimate his talent as an actor. He started at a young age doing theater. The Garrick Gaieties was his big break. A talented singer, he introduced the song "Manhattan." Later years he began acting in the pictures. He credited "Hell below" as one of his serious roles. In the picture his Character has dramatic death scene. Many of his roles were stereotypical. Playing mostly soda pop Jerks with few lines. But actor's like Will Rogers gave him the chance for some lines. Unhappy with his success lead him back to theater. Money sent him back to pictures. During all these setbacks, Sterling stayed strong. To me, it makes him more successful. He did screwball comedies directed by Jules White that were fantastic comedy pieces. I think they are just as amazing as the Original 3 Stooges comedies. He could be serious, he could be on stage, he could be funny. His voice could melt hearts when he sings. Sterling really was a true talent. Walt Disney named him one of his favorite voice actors. Sterling was a gem. Reason why I love him and consider him my favorite actor. He may of had a small part in a film. But that small part was giant to me.
It's a real shame that more films are not based off of the comedic work of people like Sterling Holloway. Today films are based off of sex appeal and stereotypes and I prefer 1940's films because I find real hidden gems, especially in his work.

As a kid growing up in the 40's Mr Holloway was the funny man with the distinct voice. So enjoyed all his roles in the movies over the years. Even derived much joy knowing it was him doing the "voice over" work he did for the Disney studios. Simply put, 'one of the finest bit actors of his times.'
