I loved this movie as a kid when it was first released. Later, I tried to get it for years, but could never find it. I even contacted one of it's stars Robert Blake to see if he had a copy, and was willing to sell it. He told me he did not have a copy. Later one of my sons friends found a site that sold it on the net. Now more and more sites have it. This movie was based on Detriots old Purple Gang. It was a youth gang that branched out into real organized crime, and moved up from a youth gang to an adult crew. Incidently, youth gang memembers from Italian East Harlem in New York City saw this movie when it came out. They also loved it, and formed their own version of the Purple gang in New York. They also called themselves the Purple Gang. They also became an adult crew, and were very successful working with NY's five families. They were not part of the Mafia. Some called them a rouge crew because they worked for any one.A lot of them did very little jail time because they were under the radar. Later some of them moved into the regular Mafia instead of just working for them. Those members then moved into law's radar. One of them Danny Leo even became a Boss. There has been talk about doing a movie about them. Some called them NY's 6th crime family while they were operating.

Good movie--part Detroit history-historically accurate--violence is true portrayal of times. Good performances from Robert Blake + Barry Sullivan!---Where can a home video of this movie?---Why did THIS movie "Disappear"?
