Ruth Hussey is the perfect smart, lovely woman (as she was portraying a surgeon in "My Favorite Patient") and all the other actors are right-on-the-money, too. Good production values and I even liked the music...that concert sounded like Ira Gershwin's style! I kept thinking about the brother, John Hubbard, and knew I saw him in quite a few movies. Such a great smile. Recently it was "You'll Never Get Rich" as the fiance of Rita Hayworth. 5 stars for a small twinkly gem of a film.
Funny and Charming
I think Ruth Hussey and her relationship with her dad and brother is charming, and even though Melvyn Douglas plays a drunk (pretty much), I like the smart and humorous development of the relationship between Hussey and Douglas. They have good chemistry without being to mushy.
Charming Movie For Ruth Hussey
Liked the role of Ruth Hussey in this movie. She smart, funny and charming right from the beginning and in the end gets her man!
Forget Melvyn Douglas! This is the beautiful Ruth Hussey's film from start to finish! She is indomitable and manages to get her man despite all the machinations of the vixen who is his ex-wife. The great Charles Coburn lends some gravitas to the film as Hussey's father and he is great with advice, as always. This isn't a great film but it is a funny and charming one that passes the time very pleasantly. I always enjoy watching Ruth Hussey and I strongly believe she is vastly underrated in the industry. She was an excellent actress and a real beauty!
