Daily Variety reviewed the film as Dangerous to Women. Studio records indicate that both Betty Lawford and Erin O'Brien Moore were first cast in the role of Valerie Loft. According to a March 1934 Hollywood Reporter news item, Universal negotiated with Paramount for the loan of Randolph Scott but was unable to secure the actor for the production. In addition, Universal expressed interest in borrowing William Gargan from RKO for a role, but Gargan was unavailable at the time.
