Although a Hollywood Reporter production chart places Cliff Clark, Janis Carter and Shelley Winters in the cast, their appearance in the released film has not been confirmed. This picture marked director D. Ross Lederman's return to Columbia after working for three years at Warner Bros. According to materials contained in NARS in Washington, D.C., this film was disapproved for export by the Los Angeles Board of Review of the Office of Censorship because of its depiction of "an organized gang of racketeers operating a black market." According to a New York Times news item, the MPAA adopted more stringent new guidelines in 1947, and deemed this picture "unsuitable for re-release or reissue." The 1931 Columbia film The Last Parade, starring Jack Holt and Tim Moore and directed by Erle C. Kenton, was also based on the Casey Robinson story (see AFI Catalog of Feature Films, 1931-40; F3.2390).
